A Jazz music wedding
Big Thanks Band like to provide a variety of music styles including jazz music at your wedding. We have a team of jazz specialists and every kind of wedding singer that can play all the classics from the 1920’s and 30’s of Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington through to the 40’s music of Charlie parker the 50’s big band swing era of Glen Miller, Tommy Dorsey and Benny Goodman. For background music during the dinner music sets we love to play modern jazz music and draw on the traditions of artists like Benny Golson and Miles Davis. The cool era of the 1950’s and 60’s was a special era in jazz history where Jazz became that reflective, contemplative and intelligent music that intellectuals would absorb and be inspired by. This is in stark contrast to the popular era of the 1930’s where where jazz was a dance music and filled dance halls all across america and the world. The whole gamut of jazz music is covered by the Big Thanks Band and many of us are conservatorium trained jazz music specialists. You can choose any of the classic jazz instruments for your tailor made wedding band from Trumpet, Trombone, Saxophone, Double bass, piano, jazz guitar to mandolin and congas. We have it all! Of course we love very modern jazz music as well and will occasionally slip in a very exciting tune from he 90’s or naughties composed perhaps by Herbie Hancock, George Benson or Frank Gamble. Even Kenny G gets a look in! As musicians we love to play all the pop hits and we are sure to keep you entertained on the dance floor later in the evening but in the early sets we love to let loose with the music that makes us feel alive in a creative sense. You will hear the Big Thanks Band improvising and taking flight with creative solos. It is the discerning diner that puts his knife and fork aside and listens to the big thanks band during these early sets. In conjunction with Crash Symphony Productions we can capture all of this amazing music onto video and audio and save it for your viewing pleasure later in your married life. We have the technology to make your memories last forever!
