Choosing a good celebrant

Choosing a good celebrant for your big day can be tricky.  There are so many celebrants to choose from.  Actually in Australia there are more than 10,000 marriage celebrants registered.   All celebrants have their own way of doing things, style, presentation and how they connect with you and your guests.  A great celebrant will set the pace for the rest of your wedding day.

So what are the qualities of a good celebrant?

A good celebrant will take the time to really get to know the people they are wedding.  They will ask questions about your life, relationship, what your family and friends mean to you, your proposal, your hopes and dreams as a family and for the future. A good celebrant will always arrive at your ceremony early. They won’t forget your name for one thing! they will lead you through your vows and take your ceremony like you have been friends for a long time.  They will look and speak to you parents and family and friends and not forget to notice your beautiful brides maids and groomsmen. Your friends and family will not just be an audience for the ceremony, they will feel part of it, as indeed they are. Without them there is no support or witness to your love and the journey you are about to undertake.  A good celebrant will make you feel comfortable and have  everything in place before you start.  A good celebrant will work with your photographer to make sure everyone is in the right place for the photographer to work freely and get the best memories.

A good celebrant is not so different from a good wedding singer! If you choose the Big Thanks Band to play at your wedding and in particular your ceremony – you can be sure the wedding singer and the guitarist (if you book an acoustic duo) will be in place and have your song requests ready to go for when you walk down the aisle. Later in the night after the eating and speeches, your wedding singer will lead the ultimate wedding band Sydney and bring you into a time of celebration.
